Cultivation of Organic Tea in Japan
In Japan, in order to sell any product as an organic product, the
manufacturer must obtain the approval to use the certified JAS mark and attach it to the product by meeting the requirements of Japanese Agricultural Standards.
Below are requirements to obtain approval to use the JAS mark. | | 
- Agricultural chemicals must not be used on the soil for a minimum of three years.
- Any organic fertilizer used must be free of chemicals and heavy metals in the ingredients.
- Environmental damages must not be caused as results of cultivation.
- Labor laws must be observed.
- Administration of environment and hygiene.
- Institute and practice the management program to meet requirements above.

 Due to these strict requirements, it is hard for any farmer to obtain the approval to use the JAS mark to confirm that their products are organic.
Furthermore, they must ensure that their farm is located so that their products isn't contaminated by airborne chemical pesticides from neighboring farms.
Although it is increasingly common for chemical fertilizers and agricultural chemicals to be used in the farming, Osada Seicha do not use them.
The efforts to meet the requirement to obtain the JAS mark is not merely a mean to sell the products as organic, but it coincides with the aim to grow tea naturally with minimum environmental impacts.
